Some insects start out their lives as grubs and eventually outlive that form and go through metamorphosis and emerge as a beautiful butterfly. In a way, Hastings Caravan Park has gone through the same process. After many years as a caravan park with a mixture of tourists and long term to permanent residents we could see that people were looking for something more. They liked the community and security of a caravan park but also wanted the room and comfort of a house. To this end the park has been transformed into a mini village of miniature houses or cabins. Each is a self contained residence with it’s own yard and garden. All this is set out in a well planned mini city style. Being located in Hastings, all your shopping and other needs only 5 minutes drive away and all of this only a little over an hour from Melbourne to the north or Portsea to the south.

 

As part of the transformation we also named it Peninsula Parklands to highlight the feel of the establishment. For us the community is a major part of the overall concept so to ensure all those within our group have similar interests and lifestyles, we have restricted residency to over 50s.

 

There are many people in this age group that are finding that their family have moved out and their house is more than they need and becoming more than they can handle. They would also like to travel but worry about what is going to happen with their home while they are away. Others feel they are far too able to be set aside and shifted into a retirement village but don’t want the work load of looking after their house.
